Most impressed with this book. I was a total beginner and this has been my introduction to Business Objects. I have learned a lot more than the product however. The author spends a lot of time explaining about fan traps and chasm traps and how to avoid them for example. It's fair to say my overall knowledge of dimensions and fact tables was a bit hazy too before getting this book but the author explains it in a very easy to follow manner.There is a ton of content in this book but the real icing on the cake is that the complex sections (such as contexts) are explained from the bottom up. For example, to understand contexts you really need a good understanding of joins and relationships (cardinality) and the book does a great job of explaining these.

The Introduction of this book instructs you to go to the website to download the sample database. Well, where is it? I noticed a prior reviewer stated that he was able to download it, but the database was missing tables. I e-mailed customer service a week ago and still have not received a response. I would strongly advise against purchasing this book until they make the database available again. Because this book teaches by example, it is worthless unless you have the sample database. Giving this 1 star only because 0 stars was not an option.

pros:----1) this books is published in landscape which is really good. Firm decision from author or(?) publisher.2) SAP manual pdf teach lot in dept, but this book teach real life experience. No other book teaching.

The database mentioned on the website is missing tables and customer service wont reply to email. With missing tables one cant practice chasm trap, fan trap and other examples in the Book. The book has a very practical approach towards universe concepts but without the underlying database its useless to buy this book.

I am a big fan for Robert and his book on Business Objects !This book helped me to learn Business Objects and to solve many tech problems !It is easy to understand with graphs in the book.Thanks a lot, Robert !
